Delayed by unbelievable amounts of rain last week, Your Space is proceeding with grading, framing the deck and submitting samples for materials and production.  We drew and Steve cut a sample of a standing post inspired by those we saw at AnderBake Schule in Berlin.  Only about 4 ft. of this post will be above ground. Four of these posts will line a walkway and create an interesting perspective for children moving along the path.

The play hill will be built up soon, helping to screen the play yard from the street. It will entice children to run up and over and give them a lookout where they can retreat under the shade of leafy sumac while still within sight of their teachers.

And Junior is preparing the fern beds under the windows and the sub-base for the poured-in-place surface in the Toddler Yard.

We discussed nuances of the future arbor, the stone project table, and the green roof (!) on the garden shed, then drove off to Steve's source of beautiful boulders...photos of those will be posted next week. We learned that many varieties of sedum are toxic when eaten, so we must look for other beautiful drought tolerant natives for the planted roof.
